AdSense alternatives for small sites

Most lists of AdSense alternatives are out of date: Ezoic, Mediavine and Raptive all changed who they accept in the last twelve months. Here is what every option asks for now, read on each company's own site, sorted by the traffic you need. One thing first: we make Pyrobid, which is one of the options, and it has its own row.

1,000
Journey sessions a month
25,000
Raptive pageviews a month
$5,000
Mediavine yearly ad revenue
250,000
Ezoic monthly users
What changed
Three of the biggest names rewrote their door policy in twelve months.
Raptive moved to 25,000 pageviews on 16 October 2025. Mediavine replaced its sessions minimum with $5,000 of yearly ad revenue in January 2026. Ezoic moved new sites to 250,000 monthly users on 18 February 2026. A list written before those dates describes rules that no longer exist.

Every option, by the traffic it needs

Rules change. Where anything here disagrees with the company's current page, the company is right. Sources are listed at the foot of this page.

What an ad network does

A network brings the advertisers, runs the auction and sends you a share. You paste its code and money arrives without you speaking to anybody.

The trade is control. The network decides whether you are big enough, which subjects it will serve, what your audience is worth and how much it keeps. Managed networks such as Ezoic, Mediavine, Journey and Raptive also run your whole ad setup.

For a site with real traffic and no time to sell, that is a fair trade.

What selling direct does

A business that wants your readers buys a spot from you: a banner, a sponsorship, a month in your sidebar. You set the price and keep all of it.

Nobody has to approve your site, and there is no minimum. A shop in your niche cares whether your readers are its customers, not whether there are 1,000 or 100,000 of them.

The work is finding the buyer and making it easy for them to pay. Making money without AdSense goes through how.

Which one fits your site

By size first, then by subject. Always check the company's current page before you apply.

Under 1,000 visits a month

No managed network will take you yet. AdSense and open networks such as Infolinks will, but pay little at this size. Affiliate links and one direct sponsor usually earn more, and keep writing.

1,000 to 25,000 a month

Journey, if most of your traffic is from the US, Canada, UK or Australia and you are not on Wix or Blogspot. Monumetric's Propel from 10,000 pageviews, if you run WordPress or Blogger and accept the $99 fee.

25,000 and up

Raptive, if half your traffic comes from the five countries it names. Mediavine once your ads earn $5,000 a year.

250,000 and up

Ezoic, knowing that its policy says to remove every other ad code from your site.

Crypto, cannabis or gambling

Most of the networks above restrict or refuse these subjects. Sites in them mostly earn from direct sales and niche networks. We support them in writing.

Any size

Sell your best slot directly. No approval and no minimum. It runs alongside AdSense, which Google allows. Managed networks run your whole ad setup, so read their terms before adding other ad code.

The option most lists leave out
Selling the space yourself has no minimum and no approval.
A business paying for your readers chose them, so a direct deal usually pays several times what a network pays for the same view. It also keeps paying if a network changes its rules, which is what this page is about.

Where Pyrobid fits, from the people who make it

Pyrobid gives your site its own branded ad portal. You mark out your ad spots and set a floor price; advertisers sign up, pay, upload their ads and bid above it; you approve them. You keep 100% of every deal on the Starter and Pro plans, and your AdSense code keeps filling anything nobody has bought.

There is no traffic minimum and no application. It is $29.99 a month on yourbrand.pyrobid.com or $99.99 on your own domain, with 14 days free and a live demo anyone can open. It does not find advertisers for you: it makes it easy for the ones you find, or who find you, to buy.

We make it, so weigh this paragraph accordingly. The table above treats it like every other row.

Common questions

What is the best AdSense alternative for a small site?

It depends on your traffic and where it comes from. Under 1,000 visits a month no managed network will take you, so affiliate links and direct sponsors are the realistic options. From 1,000 sessions, Journey by Mediavine if your traffic is mostly from the US, Canada, UK or Australia. From 10,000 pageviews, Monumetric's Propel on WordPress or Blogger. From 25,000, Raptive. Selling directly works at every size.

Which alternatives accept Blogger or Blogspot sites?

Monumetric's Propel programme takes WordPress or Blogger sites. Journey by Mediavine lists Blogspot and Wix as automatic rejections. Ezoic's only platform requirement is being able to add JavaScript. Selling directly works on any platform where you can paste an ad tag, including Blogger's HTML/JavaScript gadget.

Can I run another network alongside AdSense?

Google allows it: "You may place non-Google ads on the same site or page as Google ads", as long as they cannot be mistaken for Google's. The other network may not allow it. Ezoic's policy says to remove all non-Ezoic ad code, and the managed networks run your whole ad setup, so read each one's terms first.

Which alternative pays the most?

Nobody can tell you honestly without your traffic. What you earn depends on where your readers are, what they buy and how many pages they read, and most networks do not publish rates. Compare the share each one says you keep, and remember that a direct advertiser pays you the whole price.

Do I need anyone's approval to sell ads directly?

No. It is your site and your space. You need a way to show the ad, a price, and a way for the advertiser to pay you. Label paid placements as ads, and keep them apart from any AdSense units.

Is this list independent?

No, and we would rather say so than let you assume it. We make Pyrobid, which is one of the options. Every other row is quoted from the company's own site, with the link below, and where a company publishes nothing we say "not published" instead of guessing.
