Free tool: newsletter rate calculator

What to charge per send

Put in your list size and get a starting price for a sponsor spot in one send, from the ranges newsletter platforms publish. A price to test, not a forecast: raise it until some sponsors say no.

Price to test One send A month, 4 sends Per 1,000 subscribers

Per 1,000 subscribers, from the ranges beehiiv quotes: $15 to $35 for general interest lists and $50 to $100 for business ones. Everything runs in your browser and nothing you type is sent anywhere.

What sponsors paid on one marketplace

Paved published what sponsors paid per 1,000 subscribers over twelve months of completed campaigns on its marketplace. Business lists were paid far more than consumer ones: human resources about 15 times lifestyle.

These are averages across lists of every size: the average lifestyle list there had 766,110 subscribers, the average human resources list 24,439. Read them as the gap between kinds of audience, not as a price for your list. Reported by PPC Land on 30 August 2026.

Common questions

Should I charge per subscriber or per open?

Most sponsors buy a send at a flat price, worked out per 1,000 subscribers, which is how the ranges above are written. Opens are a weak basis for a price: Apple Mail loads pictures as an email arrives and Gmail caches them, so an open count is partly a guess. State your open rate in your media kit and price the send.

What can a small newsletter charge?

More per 1,000 than a big one, as a rule. beehiiv puts lists under 5,000 subscribers at $50 to $250 a placement. Start with the price above, and if sponsors book without asking anything, raise it.

Should I sell by the click instead?

You can, and some sponsors prefer it. Paved says most publications charge $1 to $5 a click. Add your click rate above and the calculator shows what your start price works out to per click, so you can see whether a sponsor who counts clicks will think it is fair.

Does Pyrobid take a cut of what sponsors pay?

No. Sponsors book and pay in your own branded portal, by card through your own Stripe account or from their balance, and Pyrobid keeps none of it. Plans start at $29.99 a month.

Sell the sponsor spot from your own portal.

Sponsors pick a send, upload their banner and pay. You approve it and it runs in that email, with your website slots sold from the same place.
