Your account and billing

Billing and changing your plan

The trial, what you are charged, where the invoices live and how to cancel.

This article is for the person paying for the network. If you are an advertiser topping up an account, you want add money to your account instead.

The trial

A new network starts on a fourteen day free trial. Your card is taken at signup but nothing is charged until the trial ends, and you can cancel inside the fourteen days without paying anything.

Fourteen days rather than seven, on purpose. Setting up properly means branding the portal, making a zone, pasting a tag and getting at least one advertiser through the door. That work usually lands on a weekend. A shorter trial mostly produces refund requests.

What you are charged

Billing is monthly and recurring. The plans, what each includes and the impression allowance that goes with each one are all on the pricing page, which is the single place those numbers live so they cannot drift.

There is no annual option today and no setup fee on any plan. There is no revenue share on the campaigns your advertisers buy from you, on either paid plan.

Where the billing screens are

Your profile carries a link to your subscription. From there, Manage billing hands you to Stripe's own billing portal, which is where the things you would expect to find actually live:

  • Your invoices. Every one, downloadable, with your business details on them if you added them.
  • The card on file. Change it, or add a different one, without talking to us.
  • Your billing address and tax details. Set these before the first invoice if you need them to appear on it.
  • Cancelling. Also here.

We do not hold your card number. Payment details live with Stripe, which is why the billing screens are theirs rather than ours. Nobody here can read your card, and nobody here needs to.

Changing plan

Move between the paid plans from the same billing portal. Stripe shows you what the change costs and when it takes effect before you confirm it, so read that screen rather than taking our word for the timing.

Moving up because you have outgrown an allowance is not urgent. Nothing stops working when you pass it, which is the whole of what happens at your impression cap.

If a payment fails

Stripe retries and emails you. If it keeps failing, the account degrades to read-only rather than being deleted: your zones, campaigns and history stay where they are, and fixing the card restores everything.

Your ad tags are the thing to think about. A network that stops serving stops filling the slots on your site, so if a card is about to expire it is worth replacing it before the renewal rather than after.

Cancelling

Cancel in the billing portal. It runs to the end of the period you have paid for and then stops. Nobody will ring you, and there is no retention flow to get through.

What to do before you cancel. Your ad tags stop serving when the network does, so take them off your pages, or point them back at whatever you ran before, before the last day rather than after it. Export any reporting you want to keep while you can still sign in.

Run all of this on your own site.

Every screenshot above is the real product. Your advertisers see the same screens under your brand, and on your own domain from the Pro plan.
